I'm going to really have to try and get this done this week. I've had time, just not time to race the past few weeks.

So I just couldn't fit it in, so I loaded it up and retired before the start. This way we don't get silliness where one win is worth 3 points and another win is worth 7 etc, asked 521 and Mag to do the same since they weren't going to get to a full race either. Not that us 3 were in danger of contending for a top spot anyway but don't want to screw up you guys either.

Yeah, appreciate that. I ended up "winning" the last championship by virtue of only three of us running in Monte Carlo, so the fact that I smashed up the car and finished third (last) didn't mean I threw away the championship. Of course I'm happy with the win, but probably better for that to not happen in the future!

Yeah, that's exactly why I went to running our own point system, felt obligated to get the troops together to make it somewhat even. We do have some folks that have joined outside the regulars, but haven't really seen them run. It's still the summer so I'm not going to get too worried about numbers at the moment. We'll see if things pick up shortly.

Completed Greece. First half was steady, though no benchmark to gauge how quick. I felt a few seconds down on pace for most stages and so it proved. Second half chasing Roo. The one stage where there was a jump, with a huge rock on the right, I hit it both times. Second time (last stage) bursting a tyre. I do like Greece as a rally though and the mkII escort.

The rock of doom, funny thing with that rock, if you remember it's coming up it's no big deal. If you don't however... that would be the rock that I made the nice gif of me launching off of twice

Which one? I know of at least three on that stretch of road! You've got the one that's over a big blind jump (which Keets nailed). Hit that one plenty of times in DR1, so knew to avoid it. There's also a relatively well sighted one that would normally be in a straight stretch of road, but makes you jink around it. Hit that one in DR1 too, so knew about it too. As for the last one, well, keep reading dear viewers... So overall this rally was pretty good. I don't think there are any other locations where the two tracks are so different though. The one with tons of hairpins is nice, relatively open, and a joy to drive. The other is narrow, hemmed in, and has dangers waiting around every corner. Stage 1 went great, got a nice feeling for the rally. Stage 2 I dropped some time initially, not from crashes, but just from holding to high a gear I think. Started pushing in Stage 3, but tagged a berm and did a slow roll. Keep up some forward momentum through the roll though, so was actually still moving forward as I got back on my wheels. After that pretty clean until the end. The long (8 split) stage with all of the hairpins going uphill was just magical. By that point I was really comfortable with the car, so the hairpins were incredible. Dab of handbrake on the way in, let the car rotate on zero throttle initially, then add a bit and smoothly increase until you shoot out the other side. I think I nailed every hairpin perfectly on that stage. Just sublime. Then we get to the last two stages. Stage 11 I tagged another berm and another barrel roll, but didn't manage to keep the momentum or land on my tires, so had to take an 8 second penalty. Stage 12 I passed the blind jump rock, I passed the jink rock, but the last one got me. It's over a "5 left, keep left over crest, 3 right" or something like that. As Mudcat mentioned, unless you know which turn it is, it's easy to misjudge. You either keep left and go "bloody hell that was close," or DON'T keep left (enough) and go "AHHHH!" First time through I had the first reaction, Stage 12 I had the second. Whacked the back end and spun me around, but thankfully no puncture, just the bruised ego (and bodywork). Funnily enough, the three danger rocks are only really a problem in one direction. Coming the other way they're either shielded or well sighted, so at least they've got something going for them. Looking forward to seeing how our Italian friend goes. As he's not on the forum yet (if you're watching, consider this an invitation!), I kind of feel like I'm upholding the honor of the Virtual Outdoorsmen at the moment.

Yep, you’re both right, the jump with the rock... damn thing. 😂
The long stages were great, I quite liked the tight bits which were all 5’s and 6’s. It gave a real sense of speed.
Roo, you are upholding the honour. I think you’ve increased your pace as well, I’m struggling to keep up. I think I managed one stage where I was faster by 1.5 seconds. Lol.
Come on Mudcat, you’ve built it. Race with us. 🙂

I'm getting there, I'm getting there. I mean I'm not going to be fast enough to win ever, but won't miss Greece. Been plotting a PC upgrade and waiting on parts, but looks like the case and MB are delayed, I'll stop being distracted and forgetting soon

Well, looks like I need to get the angle grinder out for some vehicular seppuku...
I thought I'd done fairly well in the Escort. Sure, I'd made some mistakes, but overall, pretty good. Then An70ny comes along and blows it out of the water in the Alpine.
I'd mostly discounted the Alpine. Sure, it's only 3/4 of the weight of the Escort, but it's got less than half the power, so I figured it wouldn't be able to keep up. I suppose the smallness makes it easier to hustle along the tight sections, and the lack of power means you can focus on carrying speed instead of just spinning the wheels out of the corners. Regardless, 'twas an epic drive.
Looking at the next couple of rallies, I may be in a bit of trouble. Historically I haven't done well either in Australia (ironic, no?) or the H1s, so we'll see how it goes.

I do no like the Australia rally, I compensated by putting it with the Group A cars in hopes of getting it done slightly faster lol.

I could make a comment about getting it done even faster in Group Bs, but I'll refrain just this once.

..and I fell off the wrong cliff. I swapped the wheels out, but forgot to reset the degrees of rotation. Whoops.

Oof. Definitely can't imagine hypersensitive steering going well, especially with twitchy RWD cars.
If it's any consolation, I remember doing the same thing when we ran the RWD Group Bs in Greece last time. Don't remember the exact details, but I think I just went over the edge, at super low speed, and was standing on the brakes as I helplessly slid down the hill at 2 mph until I got the "unrecoverable car" notice. Definitely frustrating.

So I possibly could have stopped it, but I had just sort of trained myself to just let the car go because I'd waste more time trying to stop and get penalized the same amount of time anyway. I mean, unless I slide down the wrong spot.
It' wasn't too twitchy but that might only be because I've spent a lot of time with the Kadet and it made it super easy to pop into a slide which sadly i'm better at controlling than trying to drive straight.
I think I might just leave the F1 wheel on and give Australia a go that way for the heck of it. Little ticked at the moment because my new case is delayed, everything else will be here just waiting. Usually when stuff sits around one place not moving for awhile I know what happens, whatever is inside is gonna be busted, hope I'm wrong this time around, would have liked to run things on the new PC this week.
