Roo so you said you got the new F1 title? I'm a bit loathe to spend $60 on it yet again to barely use it, but what are your thoughts. I know you said you can actually touch the gas pedal finally coming out of a turn, I didn't think it was too bad with that in 2018 but 2019 it seemed way worse in that regard.

Greenman Gaming had it and I was surprisingly more comfortable wasting $48 than I was $60. We shall see if I make it through a season

Sorry I didn't get to this last night, but it looks like you've already made you're decision. For what it's worth, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The physics are much improved and finally at an enjoyable level now. One of the other shortcomings of the previous titles was that when a slide started, you couldn't feel it through the wheel and had to rely on visual feedback of the car over-rotating, which was very, very difficult. Now you can actually feel a slide coming on and correct it naturally. The physics are probably still only up to PC2 levels, but it's enough for me. The real draw in my view is the full F1 experience. The strategy of the races is quite fun to experience. I'm running 25% length races so tire strategy doesn't quite come in to play usually, though an opportune (or inopportune) safety car can throw some fun in the mix. DRS is also very interesting to play with. Trying to dash outside of the 1 second zone either at the start or after a pit stop is challenging but rewarding, as is hanging on to the tow it provides when you're behind a faster car. If you happen to be behind a roughly equal car, you feel like a shark from Jaws, slowly sizing up your hapless prey before pouncing on it. F1 2020 is the first game where I've actually got far enough into the career where engine wear is actually a thing. I'm up to Spain and Jeff is yelling in my ear that the MGU-K is shot to pieces. Adds yet another layer of complexity to the experience. And I haven't even touched My Team yet! Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I hope you have as much fun with it as I am.

Funny thing about the force feedback, I had '17 and '18 for review, I know '17 was on PS4. 18 I might have on both. Why does this matter? As I found out on DR 2.0 the FFB on codemaster titles seems to be crazy different between ps4 and pc. Makes sense because you can't adjust any of the FFB on ps4, but it seems to be way stronger than I can make it on PC. I noticed what you were talking about in 19 easily but I only have that one on PC.
I'll have to fire up 20 in a little bit and see what is up.

Dammit, I’ve just been reading Chip’s review on Mudspike, thinking do I really need another racing Sim? I was on the fence. Then came here and you guys are on about it as well.
Likely to pull the trigger over the weekend.

They do have some interesting options, including a no contact option where a collision is detected your cars turn into ghosts. That kinda turns it into a simultaneous hot lap simulator, but not the worst thing in the world.
There seems to be a lot more options available than in DR2. I might pick a day and run a race and see. Just sayin', now if only there wasn't a Hurricane coming right at me haha.

Honestly I'd keep contact on, so you actually get some racing. Probably drop the damage level a notch, much like the official races did, just to make sure that people can actually get through turn 1 in one piece. Let me know when you look at running a race. No guarantees, but depending on the timing I may be able to drop by. Also give us a heads up on which track you'll run so we can at least learn it a little bit. [...] now if only there wasn't a Hurricane coming right at me haha. (Best Jeff impression) "We show heavy rain coming this way. Suggest you switch to full wet tires soon."

Yeah, just thought it was interesting it was at least an option. Probably would be something like doing a solo career with all assists off, but doing the standard career instead of pro career. There were a lot of options, the good news is that they do fill in with AI so even if it's only a couple of us it's not an empty track.
Time wise, I might shoot for late-ish EDT like midnight or so start times. It's not totally ideal, but as long as you don't mind the late start in the Eastern Time zone, then it gives anyone to the West a good chance to join at a normal time, plus anyone across the pond in BST or CET it's not super ungodly early.
There really isn't a good time imo to get everyone, but that's at least what I'm thinking atm.

Have taken a quick pause from F1, but for good reason, ordered myself one of these
might even have to get to modding it a bit, having a display on it seems like a must tbh.

The last F1 in the series I had was 2011 and so far I’m really enjoying 2020. I’ve created a team and just going through the first bits of the Australian opener.
It took a while to get all my controls setup after DR2. For some reason I have to change the “combined pedals” setting in Logitech G-Hub. Strange the setting is completely opposite for F1, to what I thought it should be.
I need to tweak my wheel settings a bit, as I’m finding the steering has to be turned a bit too far on the hairpins (no handbrake 😂).
I really didn’t need another racing game, but so glad I picked this up. Also got to do this weekends Rally. 🙂👍

Wow... all those buttons. 😁 So much to tinker with, is there an un-cage for missiles? 😆

I need to tweak my wheel settings a bit, as I’m finding the steering has to be turned a bit too far on the hairpins (no handbrake 😂). Just wait until you get to Monaco. Every time you get to the hairpin is just you hoping that the car actually rotates around. Sadly you can't increase the steering lock like you can in real life, so it's just placing the car at the right point and hoping for the best. Still an awesome game. AI is a bit uneven though. Running 95% in Spain I was struggling to get 7th I think in the Renault. Come Azerbaijan with the AI still at 95% I won relatively easily in the same Renault, though I did take pretty much a brand new power train. Hmm.
